In the past, when brand owners and retailers needed durable substrates, they often turned to plastics for longevity, durability and water resistance.

While plastics certainly meet these criteria, many marketers have a growing concern about their use, in terms of sustainability and environmental impact, as well as their burden on the waste stream.

Monadnock Paper Mills worked with leading brand owners to develop a line of durable papers that is an alternative to plastics. Unlike plastics, these papers are designed to provide maximum performance while minimizing environmental impacts. Unlike the plastics they are designed to replace, all of these new papers are:

Durable Tags 

Designed as a replacement for HDPE, styrene and PLA, Envi Durable Tag is made from renewable wood fiber and is ideal for high-moisture applications (such as horticulture tags and wraps), as well as exterior point-of-purchase (POP) signage where quality printing and water resistance are required. The stock is ideal for die cuts, embosses and foil stamps, all while resisting fading and curling, and it prints using standard offset inks.

Durable Packaging
Monadnock Duraprint^TM turned-edge stocks are engineered to replace plastic laminates in projects where durability, detailed printing and repetitive folding are required — making them perfect for slipcases, media box sets and two-sided posters. 

Duraprint turned-edge covering stocks print, emboss and foil stamp beautifully, while providing the durability and crack-free folding these specialty applications demand.

Gift Cards, Loyalty Cards and Hotel Keys

Made from wood fiber, Envi Card Stock is an environmentally preferable replacement for the heavy plastics typically used in retailer gift and loyalty cards and hotel keys. Durable and recyclable, Envi Card Stock prints crisply using standard offset printing techniques. These papers emboss and foil stamp beautifully, and are available in 14 pt. and 28 pt. calipers.

Backlit Posters

Ultraform Backlit Poster is a C2S (offset or solvent inkjet-coated) paper substrate designed to replace plastic films while delivering superior color resolution and print fidelity. Designed for use in backlit poster applications such as transit shelters, airports and movie theaters, Ultraform is engineered to provide excellent thermal stability and outstanding moisture resistance.

Flame Retardant POP

Envi Flame Retardant Poster is an offset printable poster paper designed to retard flame spread. This paper is specifically designed to meet the needs of any public POP application, such as retail environments, school buildings, theatres, auditoriums and similar locations.

Food, Wine and Beverage Labels

Manufactured using 100% post-consumer recycled fiber, Envi PC 100 Wet-Strength Label is an uncoated paper that imparts a natural fiber texture. It is designed to print using offset, flexo and screen techniques, and can be foil stamped and embossed. The sheet maintains its integrity and brightness even when wet. Envi PC 100 Wet-Strength Label is suitable for glue applied and pressure sensitive label systems.

Folding Box Board
Envi PC 80 Folding Box Board is manufactured with 80% post-consumer recycled fiber and 20% responsibly sourced virgin fiber, and it is fully recyclable. It is FSC certified and carries the FSC Mixed Sources label assuring that only responsibly sourced virgin and recycled fiber is used to make this product. Custom coatings and security options may be special ordered. Contact the Mill for details on customized weights, finishes and shades.

Wallcovering

An alternative to vinyl wallcovering substrates, Envi Wallcovering is available with a matte finish print coating that is both washable and scrubbable. Envi Wallcovering is a 10% post-consumer recycled content paper that hangs with ease and removes cleanly from the wall without delamination. Envi is PVC-free and designed to improve environmental footprints as well as indoor air quality. Envi meets California state code 01350, governing indoor air requirements for office and school environments. Envi is Class “A” rated by the ASTM E 84 standard for both flame spread and smoke generation.
